Gratitude

For me gratitude usually means being appreciative of positive situations – achievements, relationships, good health etc. If it makes me feel good I’m grateful.
Since awakening and the second birth I’ve been appreciating a deeper value of gratitude – the disposition to open to all of what life brings. This level of appreciation is less dependent on circumstance, but on my deepening identity with the divine paradox of life itself. A deepening value of surrender to the “Being” that is living me and everything else.
This surrendering takes me out of my mind and can reveal more profound values of gratitude – love, devotion, even adoration. I’ve found that his isn’t something that can be practiced. It comes out of the simple intention for it to come. A welcoming and opening to that part of our being that lives as Gratitude itself.
